IDEAL FOR
Discerning travelers seeking an extraordinary experience
A bespoke 7 nights journey through Dubrovnik, the Elaphiti Islands, Korčula & Split, Croatia — designed entirely around your preferences, pace, and vision of extraordinary. Every detail is curated by advisors who know this destination from the inside.
Dubrovnik & Dalmatian Coast is a week built around water — Dubrovnik's walled Old City and its early-morning ramparts, the Elaphiti Islands and Mljet by private boat, the wine and oyster coast of the Pelješac Peninsula, and a slow move north through Korčula and Hvar to Split's Roman palace.
HauteBlack designs this as an inquiry journey: a base chosen for walkability or privacy, a private boat for the island days, early starts at the busiest sights, and long unhurried tables. This is not a cruise and it is not a hotel collage. It is one advisor shaping seven nights so the coast unfolds at your pace.
Stays and boats are confirmed for your dates through relationships. For Italy's Adriatic side, see /experiences/puglia-coast-and-masserie; for another sea-led week, see /experiences/mykonos-and-santorini. Then tell us your dates and style at /plan-my-journey (https://www.hauteblack.com/plan-my-journey).
How many nights do you need for Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian coast? Seven nights works well: about three around Dubrovnik and its islands, and four moving north through Korčula, Hvar, and Split.
When should we go? May to June and September to October for warm days, calm water, and thinner crowds; July and August are hottest and book out earliest.
Do we need a private boat? It is the best way to reach the islands on your own schedule, and your advisor arranges it with a captain confirmed for your dates.
Do I need a membership? No. Non-members are welcome. An advisor responds within 24 hours.

Chapter 01
Chapter 01 — Why Dalmatia Now
Why is Croatia's Dalmatian coast a luxury destination? Because it gives you a walled medieval city, a Roman palace, dozens of car-free islands, and a serious wine-and-seafood table inside one short week, all linked by water. Dubrovnik's Old City, enclosed by its limestone walls, is a UNESCO World Heritage site; Split's Diocletian's Palace is another; the old town of Trogir a third. Between them lie islands you reach by private boat rather than ferry queue. The Adriatic is calm and clear, flights from major European hubs are short, and the season is long enough to reward timing over crowds. HauteBlack designs Dubrovnik & Dalmatian Coast as a seven-night inquiry journey, with one advisor accountable for every stay, boat, guide, driver, and table.
Chapter 02
Chapter 02 — Arrival & How the Week Splits
How should you structure a week on the Dalmatian coast? Most travelers fly into Dubrovnik (DBV), spend three nights around the city and its islands, then move north by private boat or car toward Korčula, Hvar, and Split (SPU), flying home from the other end so there is no doubling back. Dubrovnik is reached by connecting flights through European hubs, and seasonal flights are added in summer, so your advisor confirms current routings. Inquire about Haute Jets for private arrivals. Stays are shaped around how you want the week to feel — a quiet base outside the walls, a seafront stay with its own landing, or a villa — and confirmed for your dates through relationships, never chosen from a listing.
Chapter 03
Chapter 03 — Dubrovnik — Walls, Stone & Early Light
Dubrovnik is best met before the day-trippers arrive. Walk the city walls, roughly two kilometers of ramparts above the terracotta roofs and the sea, with a private guide at opening time or late in the day. Inside the walls, the polished limestone of the Stradun, the Rector's Palace, and the old harbor reward slow wandering; ride the cable car up Mount Srđ for the view over the roofs and the islands. Cruise ships and summer crowds peak in the middle of the day, so your advisor schedules the old city early, in the evening, or in the shoulder months. Take a short boat across to Lokrum, a wooded island nature reserve, for a swim and a picnic.
Chapter 04
Chapter 04 — The Elaphiti Islands & Mljet by Private Boat
West of Dubrovnik, the Elaphiti Islands — including Koločep, Lopud, and Šipan — are small, green, and largely free of traffic, with sandy coves, stone villages, and a long tradition of fishing and sailing. A private boat lets you set the day: a swim stop, a lunch of grilled fish in a harbor, and a walk through pine and olive. Farther out, Mljet, much of it a national park, is known for its two connected saltwater lakes and dense forest, best seen by bicycle or kayak. Your advisor charters the boat and captain for your dates and confirms sea conditions with the crew, since wind can reshape any day on the water.
Chapter 05
Chapter 05 — Pelješac, Ston & the Dalmatian Table
North of Dubrovnik, the Pelješac Peninsula is Croatia's wine coast. Plavac Mali, the local red grape, grows on steep sun-baked slopes above the sea, and Pošip and other whites are made on nearby Korčula. Near the narrow neck of the peninsula, the town of Ston is known for its oysters and mussels farmed in the bay and for its long defensive walls. Your advisor can arrange a private tasting at a family winery, an oyster lunch at the water, and cooking or market mornings for the table you will remember: grilled fish with olive oil and blitva, black risotto, and slow-cooked peka cooked under embers.
Chapter 06
Chapter 06 — Korčula, Hvar & Split
Continue north by private boat to Korčula, a walled island town of narrow herringbone-pattern lanes that is traditionally claimed as the birthplace of Marco Polo and is known for the Moreška sword dance. Hvar is livelier, with its lavender fields, harbor promenade, and fortress above the town; your advisor chooses what to book, and what to skip, around how social you want the island to feel. The journey ends in Split, built within and around the fourth-century palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian, with a waterfront promenade, markets, and restaurants beneath the old walls. Trogir, a short drive away, is a compact medieval island town, and Krka National Park, with its waterfalls, makes a quiet day out.
Chapter 07
Chapter 07 — When to Go
When is the best time to visit Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian coast? May, June, September, and October are ideal: warm days, calm water, longer light, and far fewer crowds than midsummer. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, when boats, villas, and tables book out earliest and Dubrovnik's Old City is most crowded. September often brings the warmest sea. Spring is green and quiet, though some island restaurants and services reopen only as the season builds; winter is mild and quiet, with limited boat schedules. Your advisor confirms openings, festivals, and closures for your dates.

Nothing is off the shelf.
For peak-season travel and premium properties — particularly safari lodges like Singita Ebony Lodge or Delaire Graff Estate — we recommend booking 6 to 12 months in advance. Membership adds waived planning fees, a dedicated senior advisor, priority access to private events, and deeper concierge support.
A dedicated HauteBlack travel advisor contacts you within 24 hours — usually sooner. They'll start with a conversation, not a form. There is no obligation and no planning fee for the initial consultation.
Before You Go
What to Expect
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is the main southern gateway, with connecting flights through European hubs and added seasonal routes in summer; Split Airport (SPU) serves the northern end, so an open-jaw itinerary avoids doubling back. Inquire about Haute Jets for private arrivals. Dubrovnik's Old City is a pedestrian area of stone steps, so comfortable shoes help, and cruise-ship days make the middle of the day busiest. Boat days depend on wind and sea conditions, and your advisor confirms plans with the captain close to travel. July and August book out earliest. Share dates and party size at /plan-my-journey so we can say what is still realistic. Cross-link: /experiences/puglia-coast-and-masserie, /experiences/mykonos-and-santorini.
