Private camps. Expert naturalists. Dawn game drives with no one else in sight. HauteBlack safari experiences are designed for those who want Africa — not a tour of it.
There are safaris. And then there is this.
HauteBlack safari clients stay in private conservancy camps — exclusive, owner-run properties with fewer than 20 guests — not large lodge complexes shared with hundreds of tourists. Your game drives go where vehicles cannot follow. Your guides have tracked these animals their entire lives.
Through our Virtuoso network and long-standing supplier relationships, we access camps that are fully booked through standard channels, secure private vehicle exclusivity, and arrange experiences — bush dinners under the Milky Way, conservation walks with wildlife researchers, helicopter views of the Rift Valley — that simply cannot be booked online.
Home of the Great Migration — 1.5 million wildebeest crossing the Mara River from July through October. HauteBlack arranges private vehicle exclusivity and riverside camp access during peak crossing season.
ExploreThe world's greatest wildlife spectacle, year-round. Private mobile camps follow the migration across the plains. Combine with Ngorongoro Crater for unmatched diversity.
ExploreMountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park — one of the most profound wildlife encounters on earth. Limited permits available. We secure them.
ExploreThe world's largest inland delta — accessed by light aircraft and mokoro canoe. Exclusive private island camps with near-zero light pollution and extraordinary predator sightings.
ExploreCombine big five game viewing with South Africa's world-class wine country. Private reserve access near Cape Town for a safari-and-city journey unlike any other.
ExploreVictoria Falls by helicopter. Walking safaris in South Luangwa. The Zambezi River at sunset on a private houseboat. Southern Africa's most underrated safari circuit.
ExploreCalving season in the Serengeti — newborn wildlife, fewer crowds, lower rates
Green season — lush landscapes, excellent bird watching, dramatic skies
Great Migration peak in Masai Mara — prime game viewing across all East Africa
Short rains — shoulder season with excellent value and good wildlife activity
"A great safari is not about seeing the most animals. It's about the silence between them — and being in the right place to hear it."
— HauteBlack Travel Team
It depends on your destination and priorities. For the Great Migration river crossings in Kenya's Masai Mara, July through October is peak season. For gorilla trekking in Rwanda, the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer the best trekking conditions. For Botswana's Okavango Delta, June through October provides the finest game viewing as water levels recede. Your HauteBlack advisor will match your travel dates to the ideal destination and camp.
Ultra-luxury private camp safaris typically range from $1,500 to $5,000+ per person per night, inclusive of accommodation, meals, game drives, and most activities. A 10-night private safari for two commonly ranges from $30,000 to $80,000 depending on destination, camps selected, and international flights. We design safaris across a range of budgets within the luxury tier.
Requirements vary by country. Most East and Southern African destinations require or recommend Yellow Fever vaccination if arriving from certain countries, malaria prophylaxis, and standard travel vaccinations. Your HauteBlack advisor will provide a destination-specific health brief and recommend consulting a travel medicine clinic 6–8 weeks before departure.
Yes. Many private camps welcome families with children over age 6, and some offer dedicated family-friendly programming. We design multi-generational safari experiences that balance game viewing with age-appropriate activities. Note that some remote camps have minimum age requirements for safety reasons — we will match your family to the right properties.
Tell us when you want to go and what moves you. We'll design the rest.
