IDEAL FOR

Discerning travelers seeking an extraordinary experience

A bespoke 8 nights journey through Mahé, Praslin, La Digue & the Outer Islands, Seychelles — designed entirely around your preferences, pace, and vision of extraordinary. Every detail is curated by advisors who know this destination from the inside.

Seychelles Outer Islands is the Indian Ocean in two movements — first the granite Inner Islands of Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, with the coco de mer forest of Vallée de Mai and the boulder coves of Anse Source d'Argent, then a light-aircraft flight to the remote coral islands and atolls beyond, where reefs, flats, and beaches are shared with very few people.

HauteBlack designs this as an inquiry journey: a gentle arrival on Mahé, early mornings in the forest and on the water, and the final nights on an outer island chosen for the month and for what you want to do there, whether that is diving, fly-fishing, or doing nothing at all. This is not a resort collage. It is one advisor shaping eight nights so the islands unfold in the right order.

Stays and flights are confirmed for your dates through relationships. For the Indian Ocean's other icon, see /experiences/maldives-private-island; to pair the islands with Africa, see /experiences/cape-town-winelands-safari. Then tell us your dates and style at /plan-my-journey (https://www.hauteblack.com/plan-my-journey).

What is the difference between the Inner and Outer Islands? The Inner Islands are granite, mountainous, and the most visited; the Outer Islands are low coral islands and atolls far out in the ocean, reached by small aircraft, with very few places to stay.

When is the best time to visit the Seychelles? It is warm year-round; April to May and October to November usually bring the calmest seas and clearest water.

How many nights do you need? Eight to ten nights allows time on the granite islands and at least four nights on an outer island without rushing.

Do I need a membership? No. Non-members are welcome. An advisor responds within 24 hours.

Chapter 01

Chapter 01 — Why the Outer Islands

What are the Seychelles Outer Islands? The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean. Most visitors stay on the granite Inner Islands — Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue — with their mountains, forests, and boulder-framed beaches. Beyond them lie the Outer Islands: low coral islands and atolls scattered across hundreds of kilometres of open ocean, reached by light aircraft from Mahé. Several are home to a single small lodge, so the island, its reef, and its beaches are shared with very few people. HauteBlack designs Seychelles Outer Islands as an eight-night inquiry journey that opens on the granite islands and ends somewhere very few travelers ever reach, with one advisor accountable for every flight, boat, guide, and stay.

Chapter 02

Chapter 02 — Arrival on Mahé

Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé is the gateway, with connections through Gulf hubs such as Dubai and Doha and from African cities including Johannesburg and Nairobi; inquire about Haute Jets for private arrivals. Mahé is the largest island and home to Victoria, one of the world's smallest capitals. Your advisor can keep the first night gentle: a drive over the green mountain spine of the island, a swim in a quiet bay, and a Creole dinner of grilled fish, octopus curry, and breadfruit. It is the right moment to recover from the long flight before the islands begin.

Chapter 03

Chapter 03 — Praslin & the Vallée de Mai

Praslin, a short flight or ferry crossing from Mahé, holds the Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage palm forest and one of the few places on Earth where the coco de mer grows wild. Its seed is the largest in the plant kingdom, and the forest is also home to the rare Seychelles black parrot. With a private guide, early morning is the time to walk it, when the light falls green through the fronds and the forest is quiet. Afternoons belong to Praslin's long beaches, where your advisor can arrange a private boat to the small islands offshore.

Chapter 04

Chapter 04 — La Digue by Bicycle

La Digue is the island people picture when they think of the Seychelles: smooth pink-grey granite boulders rising from shallow turquoise water at Anse Source d'Argent, and lanes travelled mostly by bicycle. It is best seen slowly. Your advisor can time the boulder coves for the softest light and lowest tide, arrange a guided walk to the wilder beaches on the island's far side, and hold a long lunch by the water. A day here is the last of the granite islands before the journey turns toward the coral atolls.

Chapter 05

Chapter 05 — Flying Beyond the Map

From Mahé, the Outer Islands are reached by small charter aircraft flying low over open ocean, and the flight itself is part of the experience: the water shifts from deep navy to turquoise as an island appears ahead. The Amirantes group, including Desroches, lies to the southwest, and the Alphonse group, with the vast lagoon of St. François Atoll, lies farther out. These islands are flat, ringed by reef, and quiet. On several of them a single lodge is the only place to stay, so space is limited and is confirmed for your dates through relationships, never assumed from a listing.

Chapter 06

Chapter 06 — Reefs, Flats & Island Days

Days in the Outer Islands follow the tide. Divers and snorkelers explore coral walls and reef passes; turtles, rays, and reef sharks are common sightings. The flats of the Alphonse group are known among saltwater fly-fishers for bonefish, giant trevally, and permit, fished on a catch-and-release basis with expert guides. For those who simply want to rest, there are beaches to walk end to end without seeing another footprint, bicycles for exploring, and conservation teams on several islands who can explain the turtle nesting and seabird colonies. Activities depend on season, tide, and weather, and your advisor confirms them close to travel.

Chapter 07

Chapter 07 — Aldabra & the Far Atolls

Can you visit Aldabra? Aldabra Atoll, more than a thousand kilometres southwest of Mahé, is one of the world's largest raised coral atolls and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to a population of around 100,000 giant tortoises. Access is strictly limited and managed for conservation, and it is generally reached only on permitted expedition voyages. For most travelers, the far atolls stay a horizon rather than a stop, but if Aldabra matters to you, your advisor will tell you plainly whether a permitted voyage is realistic for your dates.

Chapter 08

Chapter 08 — When to Go

When is the best time to visit the Seychelles Outer Islands? The Seychelles is warm all year. The transitional months, roughly April to May and October to November, between the two trade-wind seasons, usually bring the calmest seas and the clearest water for diving and snorkeling. The southeast trades from about May to October are cooler and breezier, with rougher seas on exposed coasts; the northwest monsoon from about December to March is hotter and more humid, with calmer conditions on some shores. Fly-fishing, diving, and boat days each have their own best windows, so your advisor matches the island to the month.
