IDEAL FOR
Discerning travelers seeking an extraordinary experience
A bespoke 7 nights journey through Teton Village · Rendezvous Mountain · Corbet’s Couloir · National Elk Refuge · Grand Teton National Park · Town of Jackson, Wyoming — designed entirely around your preferences, pace, and vision of extraordinary. Every detail is curated by advisors who know this destination from the inside.
Jackson Hole Winter Week is HauteBlack’s seven-night inquiry journey to Jackson Hole, Wyoming: the Aerial Tram to the 10,450-foot summit of Rendezvous Mountain, a look over the edge of Corbet’s Couloir, private guides for every ability, a horse-drawn sleigh among the wintering elk of the National Elk Refuge, a quiet day in Grand Teton National Park, and evenings in the Western town of Jackson.
HauteBlack designs it as one week with one advisor holding every flight, transfer, guide, and table.
Why ski Jackson Hole? Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has 2,500 acres of in-bounds terrain, a 4,139-foot vertical drop, and expert terrain that includes Corbet’s Couloir, one of the steepest runs in North America, set inside one of the great protected landscapes of the American West.
Is Jackson Hole good for beginners and families? Yes, with private guides. Half the trails are rated expert, but 40 percent are intermediate and 10 percent beginner, and a guide keeps a mixed party on the right terrain.
When is the best time to ski Jackson Hole? January and February for cold, dry snow; March for longer, sunnier days. Holiday weeks book first.
How do you get there? Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), inside Grand Teton National Park, has seasonal nonstop flights from major US hubs. Private flights can be arranged at hautejets.com.
Where should you stay? Teton Village for ski-in, ski-out mornings, or a retreat above the valley for privacy; your advisor matches the base to your party.
Do I need a membership? No. Non-members are welcome. An advisor responds within 24 hours at /plan-my-journey (https://www.hauteblack.com/plan-my-journey).

The Journey
Your Itinerary
Chapter 01
Chapter 01 — Why Jackson Hole in Winter
Why ski Jackson Hole instead of Colorado? Because Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is built around steep, serious terrain and wild surroundings rather than a resort scene. It offers 2,500 acres of in-bounds terrain on two mountains, Après Vous and Rendezvous, with a 4,139-foot vertical drop from a 6,311-foot base to a 10,450-foot summit, and the resort rates half of its 131 named trails as expert. Around it lies one of the great protected landscapes of the American West: Grand Teton National Park, the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the National Elk Refuge. Jackson Hole Winter Week is HauteBlack’s seven-night inquiry journey for skiers and families who want that mountain at its best, with guides, timing and tables arranged before you land.
Chapter 02
Chapter 02 — Arrival and Your Base
How do you get to Jackson Hole? Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) sits inside Grand Teton National Park, a short drive from both the town of Jackson and Teton Village, with seasonal nonstop flights from major US hubs; private aircraft also fly directly into JAC, and private flights can be arranged at hautejets.com. The first decision is where to sleep. Teton Village, at the foot of the resort, gives ski-in, ski-out mornings; Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole, already featured in our December and anniversary guides (/news/best-places-in-us-to-visit-in-december-vip-picks, /news/10-best-anniversary-trips-in-us-for-2026), sits right on the slopes there. Those who want privacy and architecture first, with skiing a drive away, look at Amangani, set on a butte above the valley with long views of the Tetons. Your advisor matches the base to how your party actually skis.
Chapter 03
Chapter 03 — Big Red and Rendezvous Mountain
What is the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram? Known as Big Red, it carries 100 passengers 4,139 vertical feet to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain in about nine minutes. The current tram opened on December 19, 2008, replacing the original after 40 years of service. At the top, the views run across the Tetons and the valley, and Corbet’s Cabin serves the waffles that have become a summit tradition. From there, Rendezvous Bowl and the long runs back to the base give strong skiers one of the biggest continuous descents in the United States. We plan the first tram rides of the morning around the forecast, because early laps on a powder day are the reason people fly here.
Chapter 04
Chapter 04 — Corbet’s Couloir
What is Corbet’s Couloir? It is the narrow chute just below the tram’s summit, reached only by riding the tram, with an entry drop of about 20 feet onto a pitch of around 50 degrees. The resort calls it the most famous and steepest run in North America, and each winter it hosts the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition. Most guests never ski it, and that is the point: you can watch from the tram as it passes by, or look over the edge from the top. For experts who do want to drop in, a private guide judges the snow, the entrance and the day, and says no when the conditions say no.
Chapter 05
Chapter 05 — Private Guides for Every Ability
Is Jackson Hole only for expert skiers? No. Expert terrain gets the headlines, but 40 percent of the trails are intermediate and 10 percent are beginner, and Après Vous Mountain holds gentler, wide runs. The trick with a mixed party is pacing, which is why we build the week around private instruction and guiding. A private guide knows where the groomed cruisers hide, keeps children and less confident skiers on the right terrain, and can lead stronger skiers through the resort’s backcountry gates, which open onto more than 3,000 acres beyond the boundary, with avalanche gear and judgment. Lunch is reserved, not a scramble, and the afternoon is short enough to save legs for the next day.
Chapter 06
Chapter 06 — The National Elk Refuge by Sleigh
Where can you see elk in Jackson Hole in winter? On the National Elk Refuge, which borders the town of Jackson and becomes the winter home of thousands of elk as snow pushes them down from the high country; they arrive through November and December and begin leaving in March and April. Horse-drawn sleigh rides onto the refuge run daily from December 19 to April 3 in the 2026–27 season, conditions permitting, closed Christmas Day, and last about 45 minutes to an hour on the sleigh. Private sleighs are available on request, and we time the ride for the morning, when the elk are usually up and grazing. It is the afternoon children remember longest.
Chapter 07
Chapter 07 — Grand Teton National Park in Winter
Can you visit Grand Teton National Park in winter? Yes, and it is at its quietest. Many park roads close to cars for the season, which turns the valley floor into snowy country for guided wildlife drives along the open roads, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and photography. With a private naturalist guide, a winter morning can bring moose in the willows along the rivers, bison, and, with luck and patience, wolves, all with the Teton Range rising straight out of the plain. We usually schedule one rest day from skiing for the park, because the light on the Tetons after fresh snow is worth a day of its own. Chapter 08
Chapter 08 — Evenings in the Town of Jackson
What is the town of Jackson like at night? It is a working Western town rather than a purpose-built resort, centred on Town Square and its arches of shed elk antlers, with wooden boardwalks, galleries, and saloons where the cowboy history is real. The National Museum of Wildlife Art sits on a hillside just north of town, overlooking the refuge. Dinners in peak weeks fill early, so your advisor secures the important tables before you travel and arranges cars so no one drives icy roads after dark. One night we leave unplanned on purpose, often in-house with a private chef, because the best evening of a ski week is sometimes the quiet one.
Chapter 09
Chapter 09 — When to Go, and How HauteBlack Arranges It
When is the best time to ski Jackson Hole? The 2026–27 season opens November 27, 2026, with terrain and the Aerial Tram opening as snow allows. January and February usually bring the coldest, driest snow and the quietest slopes outside holiday weeks; March adds longer, sunnier days. Christmas to New Year and Presidents’ Day week book first, so those dates should be planned well ahead. Your advisor holds every moving part: flights or a private aircraft into JAC, transfers, ski rentals fitted before day one, private guides and instructors, the sleigh, a park day with a naturalist, and dinners. Comparing ski weeks? See Vail Winter Week (/experiences/vail-winter-week), Christmas in Aspen (/experiences/aspen-festive-week), or the full ski edit at /experiences/ski-the-world. Room categories, guides and availability are confirmed for your dates before anything is booked.
